Christmas grants to bring cheer to Donegal towns

Donegal towns are being invited to apply for funding for Christmas markets, lights and other events to bring festive cheer to their local economies.

The government’s once-off Christmas support allocation will see €50,000 being shared across the county.

Donegal County Council has invited proposals from community based groups in towns with a population of 5,000 or less.

It is intended that funding of €10,000 will be made available to at least one town in each of the five Municipal Districts.

Applicants have until 4pm Tuesday 22nd October to apply. The festive additions should enhance the festive atmosphere in rural towns and villages, encouraging people to shop local and support their town centres in the run up to Christmas. (More details available here)

Donegal Senator Nikki Bradley said: “I am thrilled to see such strong support for Christmas markets and festive events. This funding will not only bring holiday cheer to our communities but also help drive local economies by encouraging people to shop locally. These initiatives are a wonderful way to celebrate the season while supporting small businesses and showcasing the best of Donegal during this festive period.”
