A free workshop and jobs fair at the Central Library in Letterkenny will help people in Donegal explore Europe this month.

The events are being hosted by EUROPE DIRECT Letterkenny, with the free drop-in workshop being assisted by EURES Ireland and the Donegal Youth and Information Service. The workshop at the Central Library is on Tuesday the 22nd October, from 9.30am – 12.30pm. There will also be an online jobs fair that will take place until 4.00pm.

The event is part of Eurodesks Time to Move campaign. The Opportunities Finder section of the Eurodesk website, Eurodesk Opportunity Finder is packed with opportunities in the five areas of Learning, Volunteering, Internships, Participation and Grants.

Would you like to speak to a EURES Adviser for information, guidance and recruitment advice on the amazing opportunities for School leavers, jobseekers and employers in the European job market? Catherine Kiernan from EURES will be one of the advisers on-hand at the events.

“EURES Ireland are 30 years old this year and to celebrate we have organised a full day information event entitled, Today’s dream, tomorrow’s reality, 30 years of moving abroad with EURES. I will be available in person to help you access this event and answer any queries you may have about exploring opportunities in Europe.”

Kevin McCaul from EUROPE DIRECT Letterkenny said, “We are delighted to be partnering with EURES Ireland for this workshop. Our strong working partnership with EURES Ireland and Donegal Youth and Information Service ensures that we have reliable spaces where young people can go to ask questions about their next steps, whether they want to study, take a gap year to explore the world, or simply move to another country.”

“Promoting the benefits of EU membership is a corner stone objective for the European Commission. Europe Direct Letterkenny, with support from Donegal County Council, provides EU publications, supports for schools via the Learning Corner, brochures from EU partner organsiations, access to PCs to search for EU material, the freephone link to the Europe Direct help desk, free events, talks, exhibitions, competitions and much more.”

“Time to Move activities are organised by Eurodesk experts and offer young people the opportunity to prepare themselves for a wide range of exciting opportunities by travelling Europe. Eurodesk partners are always happy to provide reliable information and support young people’s development. There are many opportunities in Europe for young people from Ireland and we look forward to meeting everyone at the Central Library for this brilliant event.”

Adam Leonard, Youth Information Officer at Letterkenny YIC commented, “Whatever your interest is this workshop is sure to benefit you. Perhaps you are interested in studying and working in Europe with the Erasmus+ programme? Or the many volunteering opportunities throughout Europe? The European Solidarity Corps is a volunteering programme funded by the EU for all the young Europeans aged 18-30. Volunteering projects last from one month up to one year. The programme is entirely funded by the EU and includes travel, food and accommodation.”

To book this free event please email eudirect@donegallibrary.ie or call the Letterkenny Central Library on 074 91 24950.
