Talk next month on effects of climate change on St John’s Point

A talk by Ted Pollard of the Discovery Programme on St John’s Point Stories: Archeology, Culture and Climate Change, will be held in Bruckless next month.

The event will take place in Bruckless Community Centre on Thursday 7 th November at 7pm. Refreshments served.

St. John’s Point is eroding due to climate change and coastal and maritime research archaeologist, Dr Edward Pollard, has been studying the effects.

Come and find out about types of erosion, what is significant when looking at St John’s Point and what monuments are being eroded, with particular reference to McSwyne’s Castle.

Climate change is not just a problem for the future of Ireland, it’s affecting our heritage now!

Family Disco

Join DJ Conneely and Naomh Ultan for their Halloween Family Disco on Monday 28 th October.

5:30 to 7pm at the Bruckless Community Centre.  €5 per child (under 13), fancy dress optional. Tuck shop available on the night.

Children’s Party

Come down to Dunkineely Community Centre on the night itself, Thursday 31 st October for their Children’s Halloween Party from 6 to 8pm. €5 per person.

Killaghtee NS

The school is currently accepting enrollments for the 2025/26 school year.

Killaghtee School Retirement

Principal Nuala Duddy is retiring.

Everyone is most welcome to join together on Thursday 24 th October at 7:30pm to celebrate Ms. Duddy’s retirement.

Taking place at St. Peter’s Church, followed by refreshments in the Killaghtee church hall.

The school is putting together a collection of stories, memories and well wishes. If you’d like to add to this you can email your messages to memorybook@killaghteens.ie

Alternatively, the book will be available to sign on the evening.

Movie Night

Join the Bride Christian Fellowship (F94 K263) on 1st November at 8pm for a showing of Woodlawn.

Woodlawn tells the true story of a gifted high-school football player who must learn to embrace his talent and his faith as he battles racial tensions on and off the field. Free admission and refreshments.

Bruckless Community Centre

Bake Sale: CLG Naomh Ultan presents a bake sale on Sunday 27 th October, 12 to 2pm. Raffle and performances by the O’Donnell School of Music.

Call in for tea and coffee, and some sweet treats.

Active Retirement

The Killaghtee Active Retirement Association meets every second Wednesday (exc. January, July and August) at the Dunkineely Naomh Ultan GAA Centre (F94 A977).

We welcome visitors wanting to know about the group and its activities, as well as those individuals wishing to become members.

Mabel Cassidy RIP

The death has occurred of Mabel Cassidy, Tullintain, Bruckless, peacefully at Donegal Community Hospital.

Predeceased by her husband Andrew and brother Freddie.

Much loved mother of Drew (Evelyn), Robert (Julie), Stuart (Olga), David (Ethna), Eleanor (Hugh), Georgina (Thomas) and Walter (Emma). Sadly missed by her sisters Betty and Gina, grandchildren Morgan, Laura, Grace, Andrew, James, Matthew, Gary, Luke, Darren, Alfie and Ollie, great- grandchildren Tommy and Ethan, relatives and friends. Funeral Service was on Saturday at the Dunkineely Methodist Church with burial afterwards in Killaghtee cemetery.

Church Services

Methodist Church: Normal Sunday Services will be held at 10:30am in Dunkineely and 12 noon in Ardara.

Catholic Church: Church of St Joseph and St Conal Newsletter available online at: tiny.cc/PBNL

Church of Ireland: There will be no service in Killaghtee this weekend, with alternative services at Killybegs 9:15am, Inver 10:45am, and Mountcharles at noon.
