Young Ballybofey pool player Darragh Gallagher has been crowned u15 Northern Ireland pool champion.

Darragh is 14 years old and attends St Columba’s College in Stranorlar.

He is a member of both CYMS snooker club in Letterkenny and Donegal Pool Association and is reigning County pool champion at U15, U18 & U23 levels.

A total of 15 young players took to the green baize and what a show they treated us to at the Antrim Sports Club.

When it came down to the Final pairing it was two of the tournament favourites who went head to head.

Last years winner Riley Patterson from Carrickfergus against potting sensation Darragh.

It looked all over for Riley when he trailed 6-3 in the race to seven but he held his nerve to come back and take the game into a deciding frame.

In that decider Riley took control and was odds on to retain his title but an amazing high tarriff trademark clearance from Darragh won frame and match from under Riley’s nose.

What an amazing finish to a really great U15 Pool Championship 2024

Well done to all the players who took part, we can see a big improvement in the standard of play all round, it’s great to see.

Following his victory at the weekend, Donegal lad Darragh has been selected to represent Northern Ireland at the EBA Nations Cup of Pool in Bridlington in April and the European Blackball pool championships in Ennis in November 2025.
