Storm Bert has brought chaos nationwide, as many are waking up to power outages following a night of strong winds and heavy rain.

In Donegal despite Met Éireann only issuing a status yellow weather warning for the storm, over 23,000 homes and businesses are without power across the county this morning.

West Donegal has been worst affected, with massive power outages in Dungloe, Bunbeg and Glenties seeing 8,847 premises affected according to the ESB’s online PowerCheck service.

Letterkenny and Buncrana have also been massively impacted, with 5,612 premises without power in Letterkenny, and 4,376 in Buncrana.

There are further outages across Inishowen, with power being out for almost 1,500 people in Carndonagh, and smaller outages also affecting Lisfannon and Burnfoot.

North Donegal has also been impacted, as over 1,800 people have an outage across Cranford, Kerrykeel, Tawny and the surrounding areas.

Repair crews from the ESB have been working overnight and are continuing their work this morning.

You can see updates for your area via the ESB’s PowerCheck online map, here: https://powercheck.esbnetworks.ie/
