‘Donegal’s children deserve better’ – Charles Ward’s plea in final days of campaign

In the heart of Donegal, a battle is raging—not just for political power but for the future of the county’s most vulnerable children. Charles Ward of the 100% Redress Party; an advocate, father, and fighter, is making his case with unflinching honesty and heartfelt determination.

With just two days until the polls open, Charles is urging voters to break free from the grip of generational loyalty and instead vote for Donegal’s children, families, and future.

“Every seat belongs to the people of Donegal, not the politicians who’ve forgotten us,” Ward declares.

“We are where we are because of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, but where we go next is up to you.”

The Crisis in CAMHS: Children Falling Through the Cracks

The harrowing statistics speak for themselves. In Donegal alone, over 118 children are languishing on waiting lists for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), many pushed to the brink before they are seen. Some families report their children have had to attempt suicide or self-harm before accessing care. Parents are passed back and forth between CAMHS and Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT), with no one taking responsibility. Children with autism are deemed “too autistic” for CAMHS and “too anxious” for CDNT. It’s a grim cycle of neglect.

“This isn’t just bureaucracy. It’s betrayal,” Charles said. “No parent should have to watch their child spiral into crisis because the system is too broken to catch them. We can’t allow this to continue.”

A Family Man Fighting for Families

Charles’ connection to this issue is deeply personal. His wife is a tireless advocate for children with additional needs, and together they’ve seen firsthand the toll that these systemic failures take on families.

“Families are breaking under the strain. Marriages are collapsing. Parents are quitting their jobs to care for children who should have the support of a functioning health service,” Ward said. “This is not about politics—it’s about people. As a father, I will fight for every child left behind.”

A Record of Courage and Conviction

Charles Ward is no stranger to standing up for what’s right. He was fearless in his passion and conviction in speaking up for every victim of the Defective Concrete Crisis on the Highland Radio Debate yesterday.

Ward has brought truth to power, and will continue to do so if elected. He refuses to back down about the abandonment of the victims of defective concrete and it is that same tenacity that drives his fight for Donegal’s forgotten children.

“If you want no-nonsense representation—someone who will never give up on you—then I ask for your trust and your vote,” he said. “This isn’t about party lines. It’s about doing what’s right.”

The Legacy of FF and FG: Empty Promises, Broken Systems

The failures of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are undeniable. They claim they have assigned significant sums of money to services, yet Donegal’s waiting lists grow longer, and services remain underfunded and understaffed. For years, these parties have promised reforms that never materialised.

“Look around you,” Ward said. “The cracks in Donegal’s roads mirror the cracks in our health system and in our communities. The FF and FG legacy is one of neglect. It’s time to stop rewarding failure.”

An Urgent Call to Action

Ward’s message to voters is clear: the time for change is now.

“We have two days to decide the future of Donegal. This is bigger than politics. It’s about compassion, justice, and the children who can’t afford to wait,” he said. “Don’t vote out of habit. Don’t vote for the same tired promises. Vote for people. Vote for Donegal.”

A Final Plea for Donegal’s Future

As the campaign enters its final hours, Ward’s commitment shines through. He’s not asking for votes to gain power but to deliver change for the families who need it most.

“To every parent who has sat up at night worrying for their child, to every family who feels abandoned—I see you, I hear you, and I will fight for you,” Charles said. “Give me the chance to prove that Donegal’s children matter. Together, we can make this a county that cares.”

The clock is ticking, and the choice is yours. Will Donegal continue to languish under broken promises, or will it rise with a leader who truly cares?
