Donegal families impacted by childhood cancer enjoy Magical Santa’s Express

Relay for Life Donegal last week hosted their annual trip to The Santa Express at Oakfield Park in Raphoe.

The occasion is for families who are impacted by a childhood cancer diagnosis.

“Aside from the visit to Santa, our families also enjoyed a variety of activities, including games, mini golf, and a dedicated arts and crafts building where the children could let out their creativity,” a Relay for Life spokesperson said.

There was also a sensory tent provided, ensuring that every family’s needs were met.

“Relay for Life Donegal’s annual visit to The Santa Express is more than just a Christmas outing for the families. It is an opportunity to give back to families around Donegal who are going through so much and is a beloved tradition for us all.”

The highlight of the evening was the train ride to visit Santa. The families were greeted by the elves at the train station and sang Jingle Bells to get the train moving.

The train ride itself was an amazing experience. This year, the lake was transformed with stunning illuminations in every direction.

While each family waited for their turn to meet Santa, his elves kept the excitement alive with fun, interactive games that the children loved! They were incredible and it made the wait for Santa nearly just as memorable as the visit itself.

The excitement levels were so high that even the Relay for Life Donegal committee couldn’t resist a group visit to Santa!
