A man was hospitalised following an attack in Ballybofey at the weekend.

The incident occurred at around 2:35am on Sunday morning on Navenny Street when Gardaí were alerted that a man had been injured and required an ambulance.

Upon their arrival at the scene, Gardaí spoke to a man who was being attended to by ambulance personnel. He reported having being struck from behind by an unknown male and he fell as a result of the blow. The man was taken to hospital to receive medical treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening in nature.

“We appeal to anybody who may have travelled in the area of Navenny Street with a dash cam between 2am and 2.30am on that date to make contact with Gardaí,” said Garda Sergeant Charlene Anderson.

If anybody witnessed the incident, they are urged to contact Gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100. The Garda Confidential Line may also be contacted on 1800 666 111.
