The boys’ final of the Letterkenny Cup for small and medium schools took place on Friday morning between Scoil Bhríde, Convoy and Dromore NS, Killygordon at the superb surroundings of The Curragh.

It was a first final appearance for both schools after impressive displays en route to this year’s decider.

It was a tight encounter, and a great battle, with little to separate the teams on the day. Scoil Bhríde played with a slight breeze in the first half which put them on the front foot as they looked to break the deadlock with some half chances.

Dromore NS however, showed great determination with fantastic defensive play from Sam Nixon Bonner and Jayden McBride. They were always a threat on the counter attack with chances from Peter Gallagher and Dylan Temple.

The second half was similar with both teams threatening, but both netminders keeping their schools in the tie.

The deadlock was finally broken in the closing stages of the game when Scoil Bhride’s Vikter Milkovic reacted quickest in the box and tucked away his shot neatly after good build up play from Cian Neeson and TJ Lyng. This proved to be the decisive goal of the match to the delight of the Convoy boys. Both teams put on a fantastic display of determination, football and sportsmanship over the course of the hour.

Match referee, John Duffy, presented Dominic Cush with the player of the match award after a super display from the Scoil Bhríde youngster.
