Donegal Gardai remember late colleague on 16th anniversary of tragic death

Donegal Gardai have remember their late colleague Robbie McCallion today on the sixteenth anniversary of his tragic death.

Garda McCallion lost his life in the line of duty following an incident in Letterkenny.

He was investigating the theft of a vehicle on March 26th 2009 in Letterkenny, before he was struck by the stolen vehicle in question as the assailant attempted to leave the scene.

Garda McCallion eventually passed away from his injuries on April 7th, 2009.

A spokesperson for Donegal Gardai said “Today, on the 16th anniversary of his death we remember our very dear friend and colleague, Garda Robert Mc Callion. Garda McCallion (R.I.P.) late of Swinford, Co. Mayo and Letterkenny, Co. Donegal very sadly lost his life in the line of duty.

“He is never far from the thoughts of all those who had the pleasure of working with him. Our thoughts are also with the McCallion family today.

“May Robbie’s gentle soul rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
