Article Updated: 10.30am to include garda appeal

Public services have reopened at Rathmullan Pier following an incident of vandalism on Friday last.

Damage was caused to doors of the building and rubbish was thrown around the area.

The toilets and facilities had to be closed on Saturday and Sunday to allow for repairs.

Local councillor Pauric McGarvey has announced that the centre is open again to visitors.

Cllr McGarvey said: “Apologies to any visitors or locals for not having these services available over the weekend due to vandalism on Friday evening, they were not safe to open following the discovery.

“Work has now been completed and have been cleaned and fixed.

“I would ask that people respect these services that we have in Rathmullan and the caretaker that you leave them in a respectful way after use.

“Thanks to the locals for their support over the weekend and thanks to DCC (Donegal County Council) and the Contractor for having the works complete today.”

Gardaí have issued an appeal to anybody who may have witnessed the incident, between approx. 3pm and 8pm on Friday 4th April, to get in touch.

Contact Gardaí in Milford on 074-9153060. Any relevant information may alternatively be passed on to the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
