Podium finish for Donegal driver Rhys McElhinney in Moonraker Rally

Donegal driver Rhys Mc Elhinney secured a podium finish at the Moonraker Rally in County Waterford this weekend.

The young Manor driver finished third in the J1000 class after a strong performance in his newly-built left-hand-drive Skoda.

He recorded that strong finish in spite of a tough start, his car being considerably down on power on the morning loop.

After three tough stages, the refuge of service allowed Rhys’ crew to sort out the engine problems and a damaged front end.

Over the second loop, Rhys clawed back that lost time with top 3 times on stage 4 and 5, which also vaulted him to a first podium of the young 2025 Sligo Pallets Forest Rally Championship season.

It also marked his first rostrum finish in the Skoda, and with his new sponsors for this year.
