Donegal soaks up the sun as temperatures rise into the 20s!

The weather is warming up to some of the hottest days of the year so far this Tuesday and Wednesday as temperatures creep up over 20C.

The sun will shine all across the north west with warm, dry and bright days ahead.

Today (Tuesday) will see highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees.

And tomorrow is even hotter – with highs of 22-23C expected in northern counties!

Parts of southern Donegal could see a few showers bubble up in the afternoon, possibly heavy and thundery, but many places will stay dry.

The weather won’t be breaking any records, however. In fact, Ireland’s hottest April day on record was a toasty 25.8C recorded in Glenties 26th of April in 1984.

Met Eireann’s outlook for the week is warm initially, but turning cooler from the northwest through Thursday and Friday. High pressure dominating bringing mostly settled conditions with below average rainfall overall.

Looking ahead to the Bank Holiday weekend, forecasters are predicting dry and settled conditions with variable cloud amounts and sunshine. “Temperatures look set to remain close to or slightly above the average for early May,” said Met Eireann.
