“Conal served a good part of his life in our local fire service,” a spokesperson for Glenties Fire Station said.

“Many a serious incident we attended together and many a laugh we also had but, most of all, if we gave him a slagging, then be prepared to run or else. Rest easy our dear friend and colleague look down and watch over us DL21.”

Predeceased by his father Willie McNelis and mother Nan, Conal will sadly be missed and remembered with love by his heartbroken wife Margaret and his daughters Carol, Helen and son Conal. His son-in-law Flavio and daughter in-law Josephine. His granddaughters, Molly, Isabella and Zoe and grandson Max.
