Teenage Finn Valley AC athlete Conor Kelly was part of the Irish Mixed 4×400 relay team that confirmed their place in the World Athletics Championships earlier today.
The 17-year-old sensation moved under the Finn Valley AC banner last month after previously running with the Derry Track Club.
After big successes in the youth ranks and an U20 national title, Kelly earned his call-up to the senior Irish Mixed 4×400 team at this weekend’s World Athletics Relay championships in China.
He ran first for the Irish quartet also consisting of Rhasidat Adeleke, Cillian Greene and Sharlene Mawdsley.
They finished second in their heat this morning, just behind the winning USA team – but that was enough to secure passage to the World Relay Final – and the Irish team’s qualification for the World Athletics Championships later this year.
