Firefighters have been praised for containing a wildfire in the Creeslough area this Sunday afternoon.
The fire broke out in the townland of Drimnaraw, which is located along the “bog road” between Termon and Creeslough.
Fire tenders from Falcarragh and Milford carried out extensive work in the area to prevent the fires from spreading to local buildings.
Local Councillor Michael McClafferty has issued his thanks to the fire services for their work today.
County Donegal is currently under a status orange high fire risk notice, which was issued by Donegal County Council on Thursday.
Landowners and members of the public are urged to be vigilant and to report any uncontrolled or unattended fires immediately to the fire service by dialling 999 or 112.
House holders or building owners in areas susceptible to wildfire are advised to remove or cut back any vegetation in the immediate vicinity of their house, building or oil tank to prevent wildfires damaging or destroying their property. Cleared areas should be maintained free of vegetation and combustible material.
That high fire risk warning remains in place for Donegal until Monday.
