Police have arrested a man after he was caught with a quantity of drugs on one of the main routes between Donegal and Derry.

The 25-year-old man was arrested after his car was searched on the Buncrana road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was arrested on suspicion of Possession of a Class A Drug with Intent to Supply, Possession of a Class A Controlled Drug and Possession of a Class B Controlled Drug.

The man remains in Police custody as investigations continue.

Police Inspector Craig said: “We are working every day to tackle the supply, use and harm caused by illegal drugs and we will continue to do this to disrupt and prevent those involved in drug-related activity and who bring nothing but harm to the most vulnerable within our communities.”

“We’re grateful for the support of local people, and I’m keen to reiterate our appeal for anyone with information, or concerns, to get in touch on 101 or submit a report online via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport.”
