Gardaí say they are aware of a case of possible deception and fraud at an ATM in Inishowen last week.

The incident occurred in Moville last Thursday at around 9 pm. A woman was using the ATM at the time when two men sitting nearby warned her it was broken.

The woman proceeded to withdraw cash, however, she was charged for double the amount that had been withdrawn.

One of the two men then insisted on using the ATM after her.

“They also insisted on standing behind her when she was using the machine – maybe a cash capture device was used,” said Garda Niall Maguire.

Gardaí are now urging the public to be on alert and to report any similar incidents.

Any relevant information may be passed to Gardaí in Buncrana on 074-9320540. The Garda Confidential Line may also be contacted on 1800 666 111.
