A man has pleaded guilty to assaulting a man during an incident during which he also produced a large kitchen knife.
Abdijibar Burhan Mohamud appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court where he pleaded to two charges arising out of an incident at Mount Southwell in Letterkenny on January 4th, 2025.
The accused, aged 26, admitted a Section 3 assault on another person and also the production of an article, namely a large kitchen knife, during a dispute.
Mohamud, of Market House, Letterkenny, spoke only to plead guilty to the charges.
The man’s barrister, Sean McGee, BL, said his client is a Somalian national who left his native country when he was just 14 and that he has no previous convictions.
Mr McGee added that his client has been in custody since January and he was seeking a Probation and Welfare report.
Judge John Aylmer said he would adjourn the case until the July sessions in the hope that the report may be ready by then.
