Sheephaven Sub Aqua Club members took to the sheltered waters of the Narrows on a wet and windy Sunday morning, making the most of the challenging weather conditions.
This first dive took place at Dunloan Rock, between Mevagh Boatyard and Melmore Head—just a short 10-minute boat ride from the yard. The site, located on the east side of the Rosguill Peninsula, proved to be a big hit with both snorkelers and divers alike.

Visibility conditions were a marked improvement over the previous week, with crystal-clear waters revealing an abundance of marine life. Sightings included crabs, lobsters, small fish, and dogfish of all sizes, much to the delight of the group.
Divers took full advantage of the fast-flowing current for an exhilarating drift dive—an exciting first for some participants. Meanwhile, snorkelers enjoyed a scenic route through the gullies along the shoreline, making their way back toward Mevagh Boatyard. Many described it as the best snorkel of the year so far, ensuring a return trip is on the cards.
A special thank you goes to coxswain Timmy Boyle and assistant coxswain Anne Quinn for providing excellent boat cover throughout the session.
