After more than 20 years working as a professional painter abroad, Letterkenny native Sinead Gallagher is back in Donegal and preparing to open her first solo exhibition in the county.
The ‘Home Shores’ exhibition of abstract expressionist paintings will take place this September at the Lifford Old Courthouse.
It is a significant moment for Sinead, who spent over two decades living and working in Germany and North America. She recently relocated to Kilcar with her husband, filmmaker and poet Marc Littler.
She said: “Drawing inspiration from the rugged Atlantic coastline of Donegal and the urban edges of Berlin and Frankfurt, my work reflects a dialogue between place and feeling. Colour plays a central role in this process; it often emerges first, setting the tone and guiding the unfolding composition.
“I aim to create paintings that evoke mood and atmosphere through layered shapes and subtle references to the natural world, inviting viewers to connect with their own memories and sensory experiences.”
