Donegal Donkey Sanctuary to celebrate miracle Rose’s first birthday!

The Donegal Donkey Sanctuary are getting ready to celebrate the birthday of their most famous resident this weekend.

Rose was born in the sanctuary last year, but was rejected by her mother Daisy.

Daisy had suffered severe neglect before being rescued by the Sanctuary, and then rejected her newborn foal – leaving the care of Rose fully in the hands of the Donkey Sanctuary.

She required around the clock care for the first few months of her life, including three separate feeds overnight which would keep everyone on their toes and coffee supplies at the sanctuary well-stocked!

Thanks to the neverending care of the sanctuary, and her own incredible fighting spirit, the frail foal has now not only defied the odds to reach her first birthday – she is also now fighting fit and integrated with the group of donkeys on the sanctuary’s site that includes her mum.

To celebrate, the Donegal Donkey Sanctuary are hosting a birthday bash for Rose this Sunday, with the public invited to come along to the Sanctuary and meet her and all of the other amazing residents.

Baby Rose’s Birthday Party will take place between 1-5pm this Sunday, the 8th of June, with tea and treats being served on the day, as well as the chance for families to make a new donkey friend or two as well.
