Over 150 children from Donegal competed in the Donegal Community Games county finals for art and handwriting on Sunday last.
“What an entry we had this year,” commented Chairman Manus O’Donnell, highlighting the widespread participation from areas stretching from Ballyshannon, Fanad, Bundoran, Ramelton, Milford, and Cranford.
Cathal Hagan, one of Donegal Community Games’ longest-serving members, praised the high standard of entries this year. The top two participants from each age group, both boys and girls, will now advance to the National Finals in Carlow later in the summer.
Winners were spread across various areas, ensuring strong representation from all corners of the county at the upcoming National Finals.
Donegal Community Games President Nancy McNamee expressed her delight at seeing so many young people with an interest in art and handwriting, and extended her best wishes to all participants heading to the finals.
Organisers extended a sincere thank you to the three judges for their expertise on the day. Appreciation was also given to the Mount Errigal Hotel for the use of their function Donegal Community Gamesroom, and for providing tea, coffee, and sandwiches. A heartfelt thank you was offered to all the young participants and their families for making the Donegal Community Games such a success. Good luck was wished to all at the National Finals.
