A charity soccer match in memory of the late Carndonagh teenager, Tiernan Kelly (TK), has raised more than €3,600 for the Malin RNLI Fundraising Branch.
Popular Tiernan (below) was just 18 when he passed away following a tragic car crash last December.
“A massive thank you to everyone who came out to support this year’s Cottages v Cottages match in memory of Tiernan Kelly (TK) and in aid of the RNLI,” a spokesperson for the organisers said.
“It was a brilliant day filled with community spirit, laughter, and incredible generosity.”
A total of €7,263.95 was raised, which will be split between the RNLI and in memory of Tiernan.
“We’re blown away by the support from all our local businesses, players, volunteers, and spectators. It was so special to see the community come together, not only during the match but also later that night to celebrate what Tiernan meant to us all.”
The organisers took the opportunity to thank Carndonagh FC for the use of Paddy’s Park and for all their help.
“A special thanks also to The Arch Bar & Callaghan Plant Hire for kindly sponsoring the match tops, Joe Doherty of Moville Clothing for producing them, and The Sportsman’s Inn for hosting us that night and helping round off the day with a fantastic celebration.
Thanks again to everyone who donated, supported, and made the day what it was. We’re already looking forward to next year.”
