A man in his 80s has been charged with producing a knife during a dispute in Donegal.
John Orsi has been charged in connection with an incident at Massmount, Tamney.
Letterkenny District Court heard that an alleged injured party was working on a machine when Orsi arrived on January 31, 2025.
Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that verbals were exchanged between the parties and a dispute arose, during which time Orsi produced a bread knife.
Sergeant Collins said Orsi walked towards the other man holding the knife and threatening him.
Orsi, an 82-year-old of Ballymagowan Lower, Kerrykeel, was charged with the production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury, an offence contrary to section 11 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, 1990.
Sergeant Collins outlined that the incident was recorded on a mobile phone and the other party kept at a distance “using the bucket of a digger-type machine he was using”.
Judge Eiteáin Cunningham said the incident was at the “upper end”, but accepted jurisdiction.
Orsi is represented by solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian.
The matter was adjourned until October.
