The public is invited to share their views on the Barnesmore Gap Greenway in phase three of the preferred route consultation.
Donegal County Council, with the support of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), is progressing the development of the proposed provision of a Greenway between the towns of Donegal Town and Ballybofey/Stranorlar.
The public consultation event took place in Donegal Town yesterday and the second will be held in Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey, today.
The project is currently in Phase 3: Design and Environmental Evaluation. In November 2023, the third non-statutory public consultation was held, and the Emerging Preferred Route Corridor (EPRC) was presented following the completion of the Phase 2 Option Selection Process.
Through further options assessments, one-to-one landowner meetings and environmental surveys, the Preferred Route for the greenway has been identified.
The purpose of this public consultation is to inform the public of this Preferred Route and to invite feedback. Donegal County Council is now inviting the residents of the Donegal Town and Ballybofey/Stranorlar areas, members of the public and other interested parties to participate in a non-statutory public consultation on the Preferred Route.
“Your participation in this consultation is important and we would value any feedback which you think should be reviewed by the project team to help inform the development of the project,” a council spokesperson said.
To facilitate this, the second in-person public consultation event will take place in Ballybofey as follows:
Thursday 12th June 2025: 12:00 – 20:00
Jackson’s Hotel, Glenfin St, Ballybofey, Donegal, F93 RD40
