The Bluestack Special Needs Foundation will receive funding of €138,950 under the latest round of the Disability and Participation Awareness Fund.
Grants have been allocated to 22 innovative projects around the country, with the Shine Drama, Music and Dance programme at Hawk’s Theatre in Sligo also receiving €134,480. The theatre welcomes young adults with intellectual disabilities from across Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim.
The grants aim to support people with disabilities to take part in community, sports and physical activities, arts and cultural activities, social enterprises and neurodiversity initiatives. There are also employment skills courses for people with disabilities and stroke rehabilitation courses.
The fund is operated on behalf of the Department by Rethink Ireland, and each of the successful projects will receive both grants and non-financial support as part of the funding model.
Fine Gael Senators Manus Boyle and Nikki Bradley have both welcomed the funding for the Donegal specific projects.
