A driver arrested for drink driving this weekend has also had their car seized on suspicion of being too dangerous to drive.

Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit made the arrest this morning in the Manorcunningham area.

After they failed a breath test, the driver’s car was also seized as it was suspected to be dangerous/defective.

“A PSV examination of the car will now take place,” said gardaí.

“You should always ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition before setting off on your journey and conduct all relevant checks on it.”

Letterkenny gardaí made a number of speeding detections last night during this busy weekend on the roads.

Speeds of 142km/h and 127km/h were detected during checks.

“Save lives by slowing down this Rally weekend and every time you make a journey,” a spokesperson said.
