EirGrid is calling on GAA supporters in Donegal to nominate a volunteer who has made an extraordinary impact in their club and community as part of its new ‘Community Heroes’ campaign.
The campaign will tour Ireland and shine a light on exceptional individuals who have gone above and beyond. It will also include a nationwide competition to celebrate one of Ireland’s most dedicated volunteers. One outstanding volunteer will be selected to win a pair of tickets to the All-Ireland Final, along with a €5,000 donation towards their club’s development.
This recognition of the time and energy that volunteers give to their clubs, comes as EirGrid marks ten years of its timing partnership with the GAA. The sponsorship now spans the All-Ireland Football, Hurling, and Camogie Championships.
As the operator and developer of the electricity grid, EirGrid is working to transform the power system for communities in Donegal and across the north west. The grid powers homes, communities and businesses, which in turn supports jobs, economic growth and regional development.
Connell McLoone, EirGrid’s Community Liaison Officer for the north west said: “As we work to make the electricity grid stronger in Donegal and the wider north west area, EirGrid will ensure that the views of local communities are reflected and the benefits are felt across the region.
“Our Community Heroes campaign and role as the GAA’s timing partner reflects our broader commitment to community engagement and sustainability.”
“I would encourage everyone to get involved in the campaign to recognise the outstanding commitment of volunteers to their clubs throughout the county.”
