The Arranmore RNLI volunteer crew was requested to assist in the medical evacuation of three patients requiring assessment in Letterkenny University Hospital in the past four days.
The first two calls were in the early hours of Friday morning, 20 June, at 12.30 am and again at 2.10 am. The third call was last night at 9.08pm. Patients were transferred from the Arranmore first responders ambulance to the lifeboat and then on to Burtonport to a waiting ambulance for assessment in Letterkenny University Hospital.
Coxswain of Arranmore RNLI Kieran O’ Donnell said: “As an emergency service on call every day of the year, we are always prepared to launch whatever the call. Summer is usually a busy time for the emergency services and we would ask that people are aware of the safety messages from Water Safety Ireland, The Coast Guards and the RNLI when on or near the water. Be seen, be safe and enjoy the summer”.
