Progress is continuing well on new social housing homes under construction at Coill an Airgid in Ballybofey.

The development consists of 14 energy efficient social housing units which will be delivered over three phases by MBC Building Contractors Ltd.

Phase 1, comprising three two-bedroom single-storey dwellings, was due for completion by the end of June 2025.

Phase 2 will see the completion of four units, which include two three-bedroom two-storey dwellings and two two-bedroom apartments. These are expected to be ready by September 2025.

Phase 3 consists of seven units, featuring two two-bedroom two-storey homes, three three-bedroom two-storey homes, and two two-bedroom apartments. This phase is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.

There are 511 social housing units currently under construction in Donegal, a special meeting on housing heard yesterday.

Chief Executive of Donegal County Council, John McLaughlin said that with 240 houses already finished in Donegal, there are now more than 750 houses being delivered by the council under the Housing for All programme.

The council is working towards a government-set target of 879 units.
