Two Donegal brothers represented Ireland, and their club, at separate international events at the weekend.

Tir Chonaill AC’s Ethan (18) and Fintan Dewhirst (19) competed with distinction in Mannheim, Germany, and in Slovenia respectively.

Ethan was at the European U20 International meet in Manheim. Drawn in the unfavourable  outside lane in heat one, he ran a superb race to finish third on 52.5 in the 400m hurdle.

Meanwhile in Slovenia, older brother Fintan (main pic), gaining his first Irish senior vest, helped the team to 5th overall position in the European team championships in the 400m hurdles. Sixteen teams faced the starter in the Division 2 decider – Ireland gained promotion last year from Division 3. And with three countries gaining promotion and relegation, they consolidated their Division 2 position.

“Congratulations to Ethan and Fintan from all in Tir Chonaill AC, proud of you boys,” a club spokesperson said.
