There are traffic delays in the Ballyraine area of Letterkenny this Wednesday morning following a burst water main.
The issue is causing supply disruptions to Ballyraine, Lurgybrack, Port Road, Main Street, Dry Arch and the Bonagee areas.
This is the latest in a series of bursts experienced in the area over recent weeks.
Further traffic delays are expected throughout the day as Uisce Eireann works on repairs up to 7pm.
Letterkenny Councillor Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly said: “I have been in contact with Uisce Eireann and I have alerted them to the disruption this is going to cause to Letterkenny going forward if there is not a permanent repair as soon as possible.”
Cllr Kelly added: “This is a clear sign of the amount of upgrading needed in the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District, especially in relation to the new housing developments proposed in Ballymacool and the High Road and areas throughout the MD. Uisce Eireann needs to act fast and upgrade the infrastructure that is there. On top of that, we need to start seeking a new water supply to meet the demand.”
