MET Eireann has issued a weather warning for Donegal for today and tonight.
The gale warning says winds could reach 50mph at times with very heavy showers.
Irish weather online says: “The weather will resemble a late autumn gale with strong northwest winds 30-50 mph (force 8 to 10 over marine areas). There will be intervals of rain that may be quite heavy at times in Ulster. Highs only 14-16 C. Rainfalls 5-15 mms.”
Winds will calm but showery weather will continue throughout the week. Showers will die out on Thursday and warmer weather with cloudy skies and sunny intervals will return on Friday and continue through next weekend.
There is some hope of warmer weather into the following week.
Irish weather online reports: “The following week may have some warmer days still, with the improving trend likely to peak around mid-week. Models continue to “chop and change” on this period and the main question seems to be how strong the high will be once it drifts closer to Ireland. The range of possible outcomes is still something like a brief warmup to a long warm spell.”
