POWER has been cut to a number of homes in Co Donegal this morning.
However ESB has restored power again to affected homes.
Hundreds of properties near Ramelton were left without power for around half an hour from 8.30am.
“We thought ‘oh no’. It was still dark so we continued to open presents using a torch and some candles,” said one resident.
“To be fair it was back in within half an hour. We’ve put the turkey on now just in case,” she laughed.
Met Eireann has issued a gale warning for the county today.
It is however very mild with temperatures in Donegal of around 10C.
ESB says it will fix any further interruptions as and when they happen.
This is the busiest day of the year for power supplies as families almost double their electricity useage.
