Donegal’s season fell into tatters last night in Sligo as Galway dumped Rory Gallagher’s men from the Championship in ruthless fashion.
Donegal were beaten out the gate, 4-17 to 0-14, as their hopes of making it to Croke Park for a seventh year in a row were blown to smithereens by Galway.

Galway outscored Donegal 3-5 to 0-2 in the second quarter to steal a march and it was a torrid night for Donegal fans – many of whom took to social media to voice their displeasure. Others had a more sympathetic outlook but, in the main, the scrolls through the phones won’t be a pleasant experience for Donegal’s players after the heavy loss.
Something badly wrong here , this team is full of talented players and should never be getting beat like this , really needs to be addressed https://t.co/xn54hzE9dj

Donegal 0-14 Galway 4-17. Surely Rory Gallagher's future will be in doubt after a second hammering of the Championship for #Donegal

Donegal v Galway, hard to watch but this is a young team & it will take another 1 or 2 years to compete @ top..

Not long ago it was the most feared defence in the game. No more. #Galway destroyed it today. The end of the road for #Donegal.

…the Michael Murphy experiment at midfield is ruining the best years of his career. There is talent in Donegal but need right leader.

Hard to see how Rory Gallagher can continue after this. Donegal have been brutal. They look like a division 4 side. #GAA

Rory Gallagher had the termerity to ask for an extended contract. And it was given to him. Let that sink in.

Meanwhile in Beijing, Jim Mc Guinness is thinking is it any wonder I got rid of Rory Gallagher? #GAA

People very quick to jump on Rory Gallagher. I dont think they realise how decimated the squad is this year. Young fellas don't have it, yet

Not sure what people expect of Rory Gallagher given the retirements/change of personnel. Deserves some time! #GAA

Is Rory Gallagher still manager of #Donegalgaa or has he stepped down yet? Can't be long, the knives are out for him after yesterday.
