A County Councillor has called for roads leading to two special schools in Letterkenny to be gritted during frosty weather.
At present, the roads leading to Little Angels and St Bernadette’s schools are not included in the agreed salting routes of Donegal County Council.
“We should make a special dispensation for these schools,” Councillor Adrian Glackin said.
“The nature of these schools mean that they are accessed by children with limited mobility, some are wheelchair users and others use walking aids.
“The schools aren’t just for Letterkenny people. People travel from all over Donegal and it would be a goodwill gesture to get these schools on the gritting list.”
Councillor Gerry McMonagle echoed the sentiments, adding: “It is a no brainer. We need to grit these roads and it’s the least we could be doing.”
