Donegal man appears before court on seven firearms charges

August 16, 2018

A 46-year-old Donegal man has appeared in court on seven counts of unlawfully possessing firearms.

Stuart McIntosh, of Carnmoney, Cranford, was before Judge Deirdre Gearty at Letterkenny District Court.

McIntosh is charged with the offences from July 20, 2017, at Bracken Hill Farm, Carnmoney, Cranford.

The court heard that, following his arrest, McIntosh remained silent when each charge was put to him.

McIntosh is charged with unlawfully possessing a .72 calibre bullet, an action rifle, a shotgun, a revolver, an air revolver, a magnum air revolver and an air rifle.

Inspector Barry Doyle said Gardaí had no objection to bail. The defendant, he said, had co-operated fully with Gardaí.

Solicitor for McIntosh, Mr Patsy Gallagher, said his client was self-employed, but that his work was of a ‘seasonal’ nature.

McIntosh was remanded, on his own bond of €250 to appear at the October 8 sitting of the court.
