Letterkenny is to get a new ‘signalised crossing’ at a road blackspot.
Cllr. Jimmy Kavanagh has been informed by the council that the new crossing will be located at the bottom of Justice Walsh Road, subject to funding and road design studies.
Cllr. Kavanagh had proposed a motion that the council provide a pedestrian crossing between the community centre car park and the Ark Medical centre.
He pointed out that many elderly people have to cross the very busy road to go to the medical centre and to the pharmacy and they find it very difficult and dangerous to do so.
He also noted that many of the elderly users of the Ark medical centre who drive, were not comfortable using the car park at the facility because of ticket machines and different levels to the car park, caused difficulties for them and they therefore found it easier to use the car park at the community centre.
