PLAYERS NEED TO DELIVER FOR THE MANAGER, SAYS MURPHY

DONEGAL GAA FANS believe the appointment of Jim McGuinness as Donegal chief will bring instant results, but captain Michael Murphy knows there is only so much a manager can do.

“Any time a new management team comes in, it stirs people and they’re intrigued as to what’s on offer,” Murphy tells The Irish News.

“At this time of year, people are curious to see who has been called into the panel and what changes are happening. Knowing Jim and the management team from the under 21s, they’ll bring that level of professionalism and they’ll have plenty of work done already.

“But listen, and I keep saying this, it’s really going to be down to the players and how we buy into this. Just looking at the panel, there’s a nice blend of youth and experience there.

“Hopefully when we get back into it, everyone will be chomping at the bit – I think every man is looking forward to it and putting in the hard work that has to be done.”
