Club Notes – Naomh Adhamhnáin – 30.05.11

Our Annual Golf Classic is on this Bank Holiday Monday, June 6th in Barnhill. For Tee times and info, call James Friel on 086-8255474 or Paul Carr on 086-2836567.

The Seniors followed on from their good Championship win with  a home League win over Malin. The Reserves were beaten by a late goal to go down by two points. The Junior men’s game against Glenswilly was postponed and may be refixed for this week.

The U-14 Div. 1 Boys Footballers get their League campaign underway this Wednesday night (June 1st) with  a tough away trip to Gaoth Dobhair. The Div. 2 team are also away, travelling to take on neighbours Glenswilly. Both games throw-in at 7:30pm.

The U-12 Go Games team had two good wins in the last few days. On Friday in the Park, they defeated Gaoth Dobhair by 4-14 to 1-05 and on Monday they travelled to neighbours Termon and recorded a good victory by 3-10 to 0-07. They are due to take on Glenswilly next Monday evening (Bank Holiday, June 6th). The U-11 team had no game this week, they travel to Naomh Padraig, Lifford next week.

The Final of the inaugural James Gallagher Tournament takes place this Bank Holiday Monday in the Park, keep an eye out for full details in a club e-mail over the coming days.

The U-10’s are back in action this Saturday at home to Downings. The U-9’s travel to Newtown to face Naomh Colmcille.

There is no u-10 Sunday Morning Football Academy this Sunday (June 5th) due to the Bank Holiday.

Congratulations to Kevin Kealy for coming second in the U-14 County Hurling Skills Competition. Commiserations to the U-16 Hurlers who lost out in the U-16 Feile Final. They were ahead almost the whole of the second half only to lose out to extremely late scores from Buncrana. The U-14 Hurlers lost the League Semi-Final away to Aodh-Ruadh. We hope for a much improved performance in the Championship Semi-Final in two weeks. The U-12 Hurlers played away in a Feile on Sunday and put in good performances. The Annual Letterkenny National Schools hurling competition organised by Colm Breathnach was played out in O’Donnell Park last Wednesday with 6 schools participating. Congratulations to Scoil Colmcille on their victory. Congratulations to Chantell Grant on representing Donegal in the forthcoming Puc Fada in Belfast on Saturday. The U14 Camogie team played in the league on Saturday with the team performing excellently. The Camogie Community Games was played in O’Donnell Park last Friday. Well done to Letterkenny East.

U-12 & U-14 Hurling training is on Tuesday at 5:30pm. U-16 & Minor training is on each Monday at 5:30pm. There will be further U-10 Hurling blitzes on 26th June & 24th July. The Friday Hurling / Camogie Academy at 6:30. The next U-8 hurling blitz will be held on 12th June and 10 July.

There will be a General Club Meeting this Wednesday in the Clubhouse at 7:30pm. Every one is welcome to attend.

Tickets are on sale for our €20 ticket draw that has a fabulous top prize of €10,000 cash. See any member to get your ticket.

Best wishes to all our members that are currently sitting or preparing for exams.

There will then be a Fundraising Dance for the U-14 Boys Footballers travelling to Cork in July for Feile in the Clubhouse on Saturday, June 11th from 9:30pm – 12:30am. Music is by Country Traditions. Supper will also be served and admission is €7.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the late Hugh Donnelly, Hawthorn Heights.
