Tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday June 6th the U-12 boys Footballers take on Ardara in the Final of the inaugural James Gallagher Tournament. The boys have beaten Fanad, Gaoth Dobhair and Naomh Conaill to get to the Final whilst Ardara defeated Aodh Rua, drew with Naomh Conaill before defeating Gaoth Dobhair in their semi-final. The Final gets underway at 2pm with  a warm up game beforehand against Fanad.

The lads warmed up for the Final with  a great win in the Paddy Clifford Cup in Sligo on Saturday. They defeated Eastern Harps (Sligo), Boyle (Roscommon) and Enniskillen Gaels (Fermanagh) in the group stage. In the semi-final they came up against the hosts, St. Mary’s winning a close game by 3-4 to 1-3. In the Final they came up against Corofin from Galway who had defeated Ballinamore (Leitrim), Castlebar Mitchells (Mayo) and St. Mary’s in their group before defeating Enniskillen Gaels in their semi-final. Playing against the wind in the 1st half the Eunan’s boys put up a great defensive display to turn around down by 5 points to 3. With the wind at their backs the lads pinned the Galway boys in and ran out winners by 1-10 to 0-07.

So if you’re around town tomorrow, come out and see the 1st ever James Gallagher Memorial Cup being presented and support the lads as they try to be the first team to etch their names on the Cup honouring our great Clubman, James. James worked with a lot of these lads from the age of 6 years old and it is fitting that that they try to win this Cup tomorrow.
