Club Notes – Naomh Adhamhnáin – 08.08.11

The Seniors staged a late fightback to force a replay in their SF Championship quarter final with neighbours Glenswilly. After a good first half the lads were on the back foot for a lot of the second half but showed great spirit after being reduced to 14 men to get the last two points of the game. They will hope to be  much stronger with a few players to return from the USA for the replay.

The Reserves finally progressed to a quarter final meeting with Naomh Conaill after defeating Dungloe in their first round play-off. Minor star Lee McMonagle finished superbly for the all important goal midway through the second half as the lads won by 1-06 to 0-06.

The Junior men are still awaiting a decision on Downings’ no show for their play-off match two week’s ago from the CCC. They will hope to have a game of some kind this weekend!

The Senior Ladies got back among the silverware after their victory over Termon last week clinched the 13-a-side League title. It is just reward to Suzi, Alan, Gabriel and others that have put a lot of hard work into the Ladies game at the club in recent years.

The U-14 Div. 1 Footballers are back in Championship action and face a repeat of last year’s Co. Final with a trip to Magheragallen to face Gaoth Dobhair in the semi-final of the Northern Board. The Div. 2 lads take on neighbours Glenswilly in their Northern Board Championship semi-final at the Park. Both games are on Wednesday at 7pm.

The U16 hurlers had a fine win on Monday in a highly competitive game against Carndonagh. They also play away to Burt this Thursday.

The U12 hurlers beat Strabane last week in a competitive performance and they are home to Burt this Thursday.

Well done to our minor hurlers who were part of the first Donegal hurling team to play in the All Ireland Minor B Hurling Championship.  While losing to a strong Roscommon team the performance was very promising.  Conor McVeigh, Colm Flood, Kevin Meehan, John Ireland, Francis Lennon and Sean McBride have represented their county with great distinction this year at a high level of national hurling.

Well done Conor O’Grady and Caoimhin Lennon who represented the club in the County U14 Hurling team playing for the first time in Division 1 of the Ulster Feile recording wins over Down and Armagh, losing by the minimum to Derry & Laois and putting in good competitive performances against Antrim and Meath.

The U14 Ulster Camogie Blitz will take place in Carndonagh this Saturday, 13th August. Camogie fixtures for August include 12th for U10’s in Burt, the 13th for the U14s Ulster Blitz, the 19th for the U12s in Ballybofey and finally the 26th for the U12s in Burt. The camogie referee course for adults & young whistlers has been postponed. If you wish to attend the course please contact Gavin Craig. Anyone wishing to purchase tickets for the Camogie finals please contact Gavin Craig.

U-16 & Minor training is on each Monday at 5:30pm. U-12/13 Hurling training is on Tuesday at 5:30pm. There is an U12 Game each Thursday until September. The Friday Hurling Academy is off this week and will return next Friday, August 19th.

There were 3 winners in this week’s Lotto draw that matched 3 numbers and win €35 each. The numbers drawn were: 7-22-23-24 and this week’s winners are Dessie Larkin and Eamon O’Boyle (both cards) and Sean McDaid c/o The Orchard Inn (Adrian).

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Mark Bradley and also to the McDaid family in Convoy.
