DONEGAL WOMAN ON MISSION TO TELL NEW ZEALAND ABOUT OUR SPECIAL ‘SECRET’

A Ramelton rugby fan has become a one-woman tourist machine to promote the links of one of the world’s most famous sportsmen and her home village.

Marie Sweeney has armed herself with 5,000 brochures to tell all of New Zealand about the links between the Donegal and All Blacks legend Dave Gallaher.

The well-known Ramelton woman is a bit of an expert on Dave Gallaher and his connection with Donegal.

And she is hoping the brochures will encourage tourists from New Zealand to flock to Donegal thanks to the informative brochure.

The brochure, which was co-ordinated by Sharp Design, tells the entire story of the boy who left Donegal as a five year old to become the first captain of the world’s most famous rugby team.

The brochure also includes a list of well-known Donegal companies and sporting organisations including McDaid’s Football Special and The Bridge Bar.

Marie said “There is such a great story to be told and I think the people of New Zealand, where Dave is a real hero, will want to know all about Ramelton.

“I plan to go out there and tell as many people about the connections between the two countries as possible,” she said.
