Portsalon Winter Links
The first outing of the Portsalon Winter Links teed off on Saturday last. The popularity of the event was indeed evident with almost a full time sheet. Playing in ideal weather the scoring was reflected in the excellent conditions. The results the winner of the nett section was Seamus Patton (5) 41 points, 2nd Paddy Sheridan (9) 40 points, 3rd John Birney (23) 38 points, 4th Damian Mc Clafferty (17) 36 points BOT. In the gross section the winner was Eamon mc Dermott (4) 35 points, 2nd Seamus Clinton (0) 34 points, 3rd Stephen Connolly (5) 32 points 4th John Shields (4) 31 points. The next Portsalon Winter Links event is scheduled for Saturday 29th October. All Winter Links members should note that if a member misses two consecutive events without notifying the clubhouse, their name will be removed from the time sheet and replaced with one of the reserves.

Donegal League Final
The return leg of the Donegal League final against Rosapenna was staged at Portsalon golf club on Sunday last. Going into this second leg match the Portsalon team trailed by four matches to one match. Playing in ideal weather conditions the Rosapenna team emerged victorious. Having won the opening match on the 16th green and the third match three up with three to play the result was confirmed. The Captain Donal Callaghan congratulated Francie Boyce and the Rosapenna team on their League success and thank the Portsalon team captain John Logue and all who represented Portsalon Golf Club during this season Donegal League campaign.
Gaeltacht League
Details for this seasons Gaeltacht League season has been announced and the Portsalon provisional fixtures are as follows; Nairn/Portnoo at home on 15th October, away to Cruit Island on 12th Nov, away to Cloughaneeley 26th Nov, home to Gweedore 10th Dec away to Dunfanaghy 25th Jan , home to Rosapenna 18th Feb. The Gaeltacht League captains day will be staged at Nairn Portnoo on 22nd April. After a successful term as captain of the Gaeltacht League team Wmillie Mc Clearyhas decided to stand down. The Captain Donal Callaghan would like to thank Willie for all his work over the years in the Gaeltacht League campaigns. Following his successful tenure as captain of over 50’s team club Captain Donal Callaghan will be leading this season’s campaign in the Gaeltacht League as team captain.
Events
On Saturday 8th October there is a members competition .It must be getting close to christmas as the Portsalon club will commence their turkey members competition from Sunday 9th October. On Wednesday 12th October Portsalon will stage gents open stableford competition. The Wednesday open event will be played from the shorter green markers. Drop Off
In order to carry out essential maintenance on the 2nd, 7th and 9th fairways from this week until further notice all golfers are asked to drop off the fairways 2,7 & 9. The fairways will be clearly identified. Please ensure that you drop off on either side of the fairway. The captain Donal Callaghan,council and green keeping staff would appreciate your assistance during this repair work.
New Members

As from Wednesday 28th September six inch placing on all fairways only was introduced at Portsalon Golf Club.
Sympathy
The captain Donal Callaghan and the members of Portsalon Golf Club would like ot extend their deepest sympathy to Gerard Mc Gettigan on the sudden death of his brother Paul. May he rest in peace.
