AN POST say they are no closer to reopening Laghey Post office.

The post office was closed unexpectedly shut without warning in early July and has not been reopened since.

Gardai launched an investigation after a complaint from a customer that cash lodged at his An Post account has gone missing.

Now three months after a notice was put on the window of the local post office, An Post told Donegaldaily.com there I still no sign of the post office reopening.

“There is no date about a possible reopening and no real update on the current situation at Laghey post office,” he said.

Locals have held at least two meetings which were heavily attended about the future of the post office.

Locals must now travel to Donegal Town for a number of services including everything from buying stamps to collecting their social welfare money.

Local TD Thomas Pringle, who raised the issue with An Post from the outset, said he continues to monitor the situation and will be in touch with An Post again.
