GAA NOTES: NAOMH MHUIRE

Under 8 and under 10 training will be combined on Saturday morning at the Banks as 11.

The reserves and seniors made the journey to Ballintra last weekend to take on N. Brid with both teams coming home empty handed. The weekend both teams will be at home to Urris on Sunday and with promotion not far away for the Seniors, all support appreciated. Throw in for Reserves at 1:30 and Seniors at 3pm.

There will be a Minor board meeting this Friday evening at 8pm in the banks. All coaches and committee members are asked to attend.

Comhairdeas do Club Oíge Rann na Feirsde , Bríd Anna, Seamus Mac Rúairi, Tony Mac Ruairí ar an oiche mhór Scór na nOg a bhí san Aislann.

This was a great turnout of young talented musicians, singers, and Quiz lovers at the Naomh Mhuire selection night for Scór. The winners now go on to the County Semi Finals. Great effort as usual by Bríd Anna, great hosting by all at the Aislann and by all involved in ensuring that the Club and area are well represented this year. Maith sibh go léir.

The next night of fundraising is the Farewell Gig if the Fly-bys in Bonner’s Bar, Mullaghduff on Sunday October 30th. This is a joint Fly-bys and Naomh Mhuire Night which is sadly the final night of the popular Fly-Bys before Vinny Gallagher departs for Australia seeking out a solo career in the industry.

The Club are organising a Scrap Saturday on Saturday Nov 5th. This is where we ask all from the area to bring along any old scrap metal to the GAA Club and we will separate it before off-loading it to a recognised recycling company. The Club benefits from this and uses the money raised for forthcoming developments such as the building of additional dressing rooms, improved coaching etc. The public who take the scrap down can get rid of metal which is gathering and by doing so are helping the Club and its youth. Details of the items accepted will appear in the notes in the coming weeks but please have Saturday November 5th in your mind as Scrap Saturday.

The Club are seeking out characters and potential Michael Flately’s or Jean Butler’s for a Night of Jigs and Reels which will take place in the early Spring. We are looking for eight Men and eight Ladies who will under-go expert preparation for what should be a great night. Contact any committee member if you are interested or if you wish to nominate a local person.

The Club would like to thank Rosses Community Development Programme (CDP) for the recent sponsorship of our U-16 boys side who made it to this year’s County final. The Rosses CDP run a community charity shop on the Main St Dungloe and we ask Club members who have old but good conditioned clothes etc to consider handing it to the Shop as well as supporting them. This organisation is under-rated in the great work they carry out in the Rosses area and the contribution to our club is much appreciated.

Lotto details for week 12th October; jackpot 2840 euro. No jackpot winner. There were one match 3 winner – Loretta Kelly – County Dry Cleaners, Letterkenny. Numbers were 3-14-18-20. New sellers for Annagry area needed anyone interested contact committee member.
