Tickets for Strictly Come Dancing on Friday week, March 9th are almost sold out. We will hold only 1 ticket collection for the big event this Sunday (March 4th) in the clubhouse between 11am – 1pm, along with  a Registration morning – this is a great opportunity to get your ticket and get your or your children’s Registration for 2012 sorted.

Please note the U-6, U-8 & U-10 indoor hurling / camogie finishes this week and will resume after Easter outdoors, see the notes for details.

Please contact Fergus McGee if you are interested in taking part in the Rith charity run on Thursday (tomorrow) week (March 8th). We are looking for members in club colours to carry the baton as it makes its way into Letterkenny from Illistrin. It will arrive there around 4pm.

Well done to all our winners from Friday night’s Presentation night in the Old Orchard Inn. Pride of place goes to our latest Hall of Fame winner, the great Conn Halpin. Conn was a member of the 1st ever St. Eunan’s team to win the Co. title in 1948 when he lined out at corner back. He was also  a goalkeeper of great distinction, lining out between the sticks in Donegal’s first ever game in Croke Park, the National League semi-final against Cork in 1952. Conn won 2 League medals in 1952 and 1954 before adding another Senior Championship medal in 1956. Alas, Conn emigrated to London in 1957 at just 26 years of age and the Black & Amber was deprived of a true legend. The full list of winners was: Appreciation Award – Adrian Shiels; Hurling Appreciation Award – Joanne Organ; Minor Hurling Player of the Year – Conor McVeigh; Minor Footballer of the Year – Mark Forde; Ladies Young Player of the Year – Lauren O’Connell & Kaneshia McKinney; Young Hurler of the Year – Kevin Meehan; Young Footballer of the Year – Lee McMonagle; Cultural Award – Emer McGeehin; Junior Player of the Year – Dwyer Rafferty; Senior Reserve Player of the Year – Brian “Barney” McDermott; Senior Ladies Player of the Year – Bernie Cunningham; Senior Footballer of the Year – Mick Martin; Club Person of the Year Charlie Harvey & Anne Forde; Hall of Fame – Conn Halpin. Thank you to the Management and Staff of the Orchard Inn that served up  a first class meal.

Comhghairdeas le Seán Óg Ó Feannaidh a bhain craobh na contae i gcomórtas amhránaíocht aonair de scór sinsir i nGleann t-Súilí ag an deireadh seachtaine. Seán Feeney gave a tremendous performance to win the county final of Scór Sinisir in the solo singing category and we wish him success when he represents club and county in the Ulster semi final in Glenswilly on the 9thMarch where he will be up against the county champions in solo singing from Tyrone and Fermanagh. The St. Eunans ballad group and the instrumental group also took part in the county final in Glenswilly at the weekend and they both gave top class performances but unfortunately did not qualify for the Ulster semi final. Míle buíochas to all who represented the club this year in Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsir and it is encouraging that CLG Naomh Adhamhnáin are continuing to be highly proactive in the promotion of cultural activities. Seo páirt tabhachta do’n Chumann Lúthchleas Gaeil.

Tickets are now on sale for Strictly Come Dancing that takes place in less than two weeks on Friday, March 9th and are almost sold out already. To ensure you get your ticket contact Paul McGovern (086-8114151), Elaina Gallagher (087-2901541) or Dermot Higgins (087-6672118) asap. There aren’t many tickets left but we will be holding a ticket collection along with the Registration morning this Sunday in the Clubhouse between 11am – 1pm

The club is taking part in the RITH event this year. It arrives in Letterkenny on Thursday, March 8th at approx. 4pm. We will have the honour of carrying the baton from Illistrin into the Town over a 1km stretch. All volunteers please contact Fergus McGee (086-8544445) if you want to participate.

The U-16 boys footballers begin their League campaigns this Sunday (March 4th). The Div. 1 team are at home to Gaoth Dobhair while the Div. 2 team travel to St. Michael’s. Both games throw-in at 12noon.

This week is the last week of U-16. U-8 and U-10 indoor hurling / camogie training. Training will resume outdoors after Easter, please check the notes for details. The U12 Camogie training is also in the Aura 7-8pm. The Hurling/Camogie Academies run each Friday. The U-12 Hurlers played 9 indoor games in 3 weeks and only lost one game. Well done to all the hurlers.

All underage managers are reminded to contact their players and Anne Forde for Registration. All players must be registered with the Northern Board by the end of February. There will be a Registration day this Sunday, March 4th in the Clubhouse between 11am – 1pm.

There were 6 winners in this week’s Lotto draw. They matched 3 numbers and win €20 each. Kevion Rafferty, Thornberry; Brigid Lyons, Kiltoy; Ciaran Maguire, Sallaghagrane (all card); aidy McLaughlin c/o Glencar Inn; Jack McLaughlin, c/o Blake’s Bar and Dinger, c/o Adrian (all Adrian). Winnings can be collected from Blake’s.

We extend our sympathies this week to the Curran family, the Duffy family Ballymacool and to Michael Keane and family on their recent bereavements.

Paul McGovern
