SLIABH LIAG HILLWALKERS GET READY FOR SUMMER

The Sliabh Liag Hillwalkers are one of the most-loved and respected walking groups in Co Donegal and the North West.

The group meets on a regular basis and is always encouraging people to become new members.

The following is a list of their programme of walks for the next three months for anybody who might be interesting in getting some air into their lungs and getting healthy.

 

Sliabh Liag Hillwalkers 3 month programme.

 

APRIL WALK

29th April 2012

Straboy to Meenacurrin loop walk.

This walk is 4 – 5 hours; 14km long over mountains and rough moor land in the Glencolmcille/Ardara area. This walk is a Grade A

Meeting in Carrick Car Park at 10am

The walkers climb to Slievetooey summit and continue to the summit of Meenacurrin, here you’re just about ready to sit and admire the incredible views, get a good look at where you’ve just been and where you want to go next.

MAY WALK

27th May 2012

The Bluestacks Mountains

This walk is 6 – 6 1/2 hours 16km strenuous walk. Grade A.

Meeting at 10.30am soccer pitch letterbarra, grid ref G883 873.

Taking in Silverhill, Lavagh Beg, Lavagh More, Grey mares tail, Binnasruell and Meenaguse. Finish back at soccer pitch.

JUNE WALK

24th June 2012

Sliabh Liag Pilgrims Path Grade C

This walk is 3 – 4 hours, mostly on track

Busses are available from the car park in Carrick 2pm

Rosary will be said at the site of the old church of Aodh mc Bhrince at the end of the pilgrims path.

Walks are free to all members and there is a €5.00 charge for non-members.

There is no fee for the June walk and the busses are complimentary.

 

Please ensure you wear appropriate hill walking clothing and footwear on the day.
