GAA NEWS: LETTERKENNY GAELS CLUB NOTES

The senior team playing Robert Emmett’s were defeated by one point in the Junior championship on Sunday last. Final score Robert Emmett’s 1-10 Gaels 1-9. The team put up an impressive display on the day and deserved more from the performance.

The travelling supporters know that there is much more to come from this young team. The seniors and reserves return to league action this Saturday evening with a double header against Naomh Colmcille at Páirc na nGael. Throw Inns at 6pm and 7.30pm. The U21s play Glenswilly in the 1st round of the championship on Tuesday evening next at Páirc na nGael Throw inn at 7.30pm. The minors have been drawn against Termon in the championship and play the 1st leg at Páirc na nGael on Wed 1st August.

The U14s play Red Hughs in the U14 championship this Wednesday the 18th at 7.30pm. The U8 gaelic team took part at a blitz hosted by Gweedore. The players did extremely well winning 2 of their 3 matches against more experienced teams. Thanks to Gweedore for a well organised event. U12 girls hosted a blitz at Páirc na nGael with visiting teams from Robert Emmets, Buncrana and St. Eunans. Despite missing many players, the girls won 3 of 5 matches and played with determination and spirit.

Thanks to parents who contributed refreshments for the players and coaches. U12 hurlers travelled to Buncrana in the league and despite only conceding 4 points in the second half, didn’t manage a win. The young players all showed great progress and battled to the final whistle. The annual Hurling and Camogie Academy was a resounding success with 68 children enjoying a week of expert coaching, fun and craic. Thanks go to all the coaches and assistants, Dan and Sharon for organisation and to all boys and girls who made the Academy a great week of hurling at Páirc na nGael.

The Hurling Cul Camp takes place from the 7- 9th August Contact Dan Harnett. The Cul camp for Gaelic will take place from the 30th July -3rd August. Contact Oisin Cannon 086-7325955. Lotto No’s this week are 1,6,14 & 24 Match 3 winner was Pat Doherty, Friends of the Gaels. Next weeks lotto will be €3300.
